Who we are
The Art of Strings (maqamstrings.com) is a free site for learning maqamat, scales and chords. Site operator: yair.r. Contact: yair9091@gmail.com.
In short
The site does not require registration and has no user accounts. We do not directly collect personal information, and the site has no forms that collect details. Sound from the microphone is not saved and is not sent anywhere.
What is stored in your browser
When you change the language, the site saves your choice in the browser's local storage (localStorage). It stays on your device, is not sent to us, and you can delete it in your browser settings. The site itself does not create cookies.
Microphone: tuner and practice
The tuner and the pitch practice use the microphone only after you allow it in the browser.
- Sound is processed in real time inside your device, to detect pitch.
- Sound is not recorded, not saved and not sent to a server.
- Listening stops when you press "Stop listening", close the panel or leave the page, and you can revoke the permission at any time in your browser settings.
Third-party services
The site relies on external services, which receive technical information as part of the normal communication with your browser:
- Hosting and delivery (Cloudflare): your IP address and technical browser data are processed to deliver the site, protect it and prevent abuse, according to Cloudflare's policy.
- Visit measurement (Cloudflare Web Analytics): aggregate measurement of views and visitors. According to Cloudflare, the service does not use cookies or browser storage and does not identify people by IP address or browser data.
- Fonts (Google Fonts): the browser loads the Rubik font from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and technical browser data. See Google's privacy policy for details.
Advertising
The site currently shows no ads. If ads appear in the future, advertising providers may use cookies and identifiers to show and measure ads. We will ask for your consent as the law requires and update this policy beforehand.
Testimonials from users and teachers
Testimonials are published on the site only with the author's approval, together with the name and role they approved. You can ask to remove a testimonial at any time by contacting us.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
Children
The site is not intended for children under 13 and we do not collect information about them.
Your rights
Because we do not keep personal information about visitors, we usually have nothing to access, correct or delete. If you contacted us, for example by email, you can ask to see, correct or delete your message, in accordance with applicable law, including Israel's Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981, and where relevant the European GDPR.
